![]() New England-based Ghost Painted Sky create distinct dark, introspective music, built on the foundational influences of classic goth, post-punk, and darkwave. Their approach has always been to treat the music as a vehicle for processing life’s struggles and ultimately for cathartic release, reflection, and rebirth.
DETAILED BIO: Ghost Painted Sky began as the solo studio project of David Strong, as a way to process some major life changes through songwriting, which resulted in a debut self-titled EP released in 2014. The following year brought a second short EP, The Shadows Breath, and the first live performances. In 2017 Lisa Wood began contributing vocals with the Scars EP, and then the first full-length Ghost Painted Sky album, Flightless, released in the summer of 2018. Lisa has since become the second official member of the band and the primary vocalist. Out of the turbulence of the early 2020s came several virtual shows, and appearances on the compilations The Unquiet Grave 2020 (Cleopatra Records, 2020), 33 Gothic Bands You Should Know, Volume 8 (Post-Gothic, 2021), and You Are Still Not Alone (Darkness Calling, 2021), and eventually a return to live performance with a new live band (including small tours into the Southern and Midwestern US), as well as the release of the Ephemeral Wake EP, and several singles, the most recent of which is "Insomnia." 2025 finds Ghost Painted Sky finishing work on their long-delayed second full-length album and playing more live shows, as well as the continuation of the ever-present theme of songwriting as vessel for personal exploration and catharsis. |
