For the last week of 2018, we are having a sale on merchandise and downloads on our Bandcamp page. For the next week, all downloads are name-your-price, including the full-length album Flightless! A lot of the merchandise is on sale as well: T-shirts are $13 (plus shipping), Flightless CDs are $7 (plus shipping), The Scars vinyl 7" is $5 (plus shipping), and all 3 CD EPs are available as a bundle for $5 (limited to stock on hand, we won't be re-pressing any of these early CD EPs, when they are gone, they are gone)! It's another way to say thank you for listening and for your interest, and with luck, raise some funds for new releases and merchandise in 2019... For shirts, physical media and the like, see our Bandcamp merchandise page.
Ghost Painted Sky has a new interview with The Blog That Celebrates Itself (Brazil), here (intro in Portuguese but interview body in English): https://theblogthatcelebratesitself.blogspot.com/2018/12/barren-ground-with-ghost-painted-sky.html
Our latest release is not exactly a new Ghost Painted Sky album, but is rather a collection of a few of David's solo pre-Ghost Painted Sky tracks. These are from back in the days when it was just David, a keyboard, drum machine, bass guitar, effects box, and an old cassette multitrack recorder.
These tracks are cold, dark, stark, and brooding...a kind of incidental soundtrack to winter; with washes of synth pads punctuated by icy, mechanical drum patterns, minimal bass guitar that is by turns as foreboding as storm clouds or as fragile as the January sun, interwoven with distant, reverb-laden vocals.
Fittingly for songs originally recorded on cassette, we have decided to release these as a very limited-run (only 13 copies!), numbered cassette, as well as a pay-what-you-want download. See the Bandcamp page to order/download...
Ghost Painted Sky will be the special guest on the radio show Multifarious on Thursday, August 2nd from 10 pm (Eastern Time) to midnight, streaming on wmua.org, and on 91.1 FM in Western Massachusetts (Amherst/Northampton/Pioneer Valley area). We'll be playing some tracks from the new album, as well as some of our own personal favorites...
New Ghost Painted Sky interview with Rock Your Underground Webzine (Belgium), up now: http://rockyourbrain.wixsite.com/undergroundyourrock/ghostpaintedskygothicrockusa
We are thrilled to announce that our first full-length album is now available for download (and on CD) from our Bandcamp page, and will soon be available on iTunes, CD Baby, and many others.
In the works for the better part of 3 years, Flightless contains 13 tracks (totaling about 53 minutes), including remixed and remastered (and in some cases slightly reworked) versions of the three tracks from The Shadows Breath EP, two from Scars, our rendition of the early (and somewhat forgotten) New Order classic "Doubts Even Here," and seven new tracks.
Scars is now available as a 4 song EP on black 7 inch vinyl. Includes the three tracks from the original CD maxi-single remasterd for vinyl, plus an additional vinyl-only short instrumental called "A Moment." The cover and label art are hand-printed from original linocuts by Lisa Wood, and it comes with a lyric sheet. Limited to 111 numbered copies. See the bandcamp page to order.
On June 28th, 2018, Ghost Painted Sky returns to the live stage for the first time in almost three years! Aurora Grabill will be returning on keys, and Peter Nulton will again be joining us on bass guitar. This will also mark Lisa Wood's first live show with Ghost Painted Sky, as well as Michael Rebeiro's first live performance with us on guitar. We'll be sharing the stage with November Party, at goth/industrial night Nokturnal at Dusk, 301 Harris Ave, Providence, RI. Dusk is 18+, doors are at 9 p.m. and the bands will be on early to leave plenty of time for the DJs to help everyone get their dance on later.
While Ghost Painted Sky has been publicly pretty low-key the past couple years, we've been busy working on a few new releases for 2018, including the first full-length album, and a vinyl 7". We are also working on putting together a new live band to start playing out again later in the year. Stay tuned and have a Happy New Year!
